Different versions of files not being flagged

Postby AnotherM » Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:54 am

WinMerge isn't flagging different versions of files when I run it for 2 backup drives. I know which files have changed recently so can keep on track manually but am I missing a setting?

I select file ==> open ==> choose the identical folders in each drive, select 'include subfolders', filter *.*, run and comparing around 80k files the run takes I guess an hour or so. Results come back with files that are totally absent on one of the drives but doesn't flag different versions of the same files. I've got 'show different', 'show left unique', 'show right unique' and 'show skipped' selected under View.

Any advice appreciated.

This was my exact concern after some research. I’m after detecting possible corrupted files, and it seems that Winmerge doesn’t take bit by bit comparison too serious. Any comments?
