Chrome code injection warning

Postby LesF » Sun Sep 09, 2018 7:44 pm

Chrome has warned me that WinMerge is an incompatible application. Apparently it is trying to inject something into Chrome, which is an action that the Chrome developers have decided to start blocking.
See: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/pTxH3Yu7XVc

I have never seen anything relating to browser interaction and there is nothing in the WinMerge settings to enable/disable such actions.
What is the story with this? Is this something that needs to be removed from WinMerge?

From what I can read, it appears Chrome doesn't like Shell Extensions, and WinMerge has a Shell Extension.
You can try unregistering the WinMerge Shell Extension (or Shell Integration), but I'm not sure if it will stop Chrome from warning about WinMerge.

The warning appears to have gone away.
Which is good because I was not about to turn off the WinMerge Shell Extension.
