How do I ignore the 1st string of characters on each line?

Postby hacksaw_dan » Sat Jan 04, 2020 7:06 pm

I use winmerge to compare large CNC programs (which are really just .txt files) Is there any way to make winmerge ignore the 1st 7 characters on every line of both files being compared? I want to "ignore" the N000XXX lines in each file.

lines from 1st file

N000118 G43.4 G0 G90 X80.5 Y-11.5 Z10.0391 B0.0 A0.0 H06
N000119 M08
N000120 G81 X80.5 Y-11.5 Z-.1066 R2.8949 F46.8

lines from the 2nd file

N000118 G43.4 G0 G90 X80.5 Y-11.5 Z10.0391 B0.0 A0.0 H06
N000119 M14
N000120 M51
N000121 G81 X80.5 Y-11.5 Z-.1066 R2.8949 F46.8

thanks in advance,

Dan

Hello,

Look for the IgnoreLeadingLineNumbers.dll
This plug-in does what you need.
