Comparing PHP Comments

Postby goozak » Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:43 pm

I'm unable to set WinMerge to compare comments in my PHP code.

Take these two files:
Code: Select all
<?php
// This is a test
echo 'Second line';
?>

Code: Select all
<?php
// This is a comment test
echo 'Different Second line';
?>

I can't get WinMerge to 'highlight' the 'comment' word on the // line — it colours the line as 'ignored' and skips over it when navigating differences.
The result is the same whether the "Filter Comments" option is checked or not & I don't have a "IgnoreSectionMarkers.ini" file.

Is it a bug or something I'm missing?

Oh. Just investigated the "Plugins" menu and found that "IgnoreCommentsC.dll" was selected in the "Prediffer" sub-menu.
Selected "No prediffer" instead and all differences are now highlighted.
Confused :?: but happy :) .
