64-bit project files in SVN

Postby kimmov » Mon Oct 06, 2008 4:29 pm

Takashi committed VS2008 project files for 64-bit builds into SVN trunk.

This does not mean we start making 64-bit builds. It just means it is now possible to build WinMerge as 64-bit application (including the libraries). And whoever is interested in working with 64-bit support can take these project files as starting point.

We won't require updating 64-bit project files when we update other files as many don't have VS2008. Which means these 64-bit project files aren't always working. Patches are welcome as always.

I've updated the X64 project/solution files to have real 64-bit debug/release targets.

Based on quick tests it looks (to my surprise) that PCRE, expat and SCEW build as 64-bit without bigger problems (I checked that the DLLs were for X64 with dependency walker.) But heksedit and WinMerge executable don't build because the script creating updating PO files fails?

As expected there are tons of warnings about variable conversions.

Again, this does not mean I'm actively working towards X64 builds. It just was interesting experiment to see what happens..
