Dropping 64-bit support in installer

Postby kimmov » Fri Jan 08, 2010 7:45 pm

It seems we have to stop distributing 64-bit support. There is nobody testing or developing 64-bit support at the moment.

Currently I have no way to test 64-bit binaries and I definitely don't want to distribute binaries that I have no any clue if they work or not. Or mess user's computer. We can't just trust our luck and wait users to report problems.

This is sad since there seems to be growing interest for 64-bit binaries.

But must we really drop the support in the installer? Is it not enough to don't release 64bit setups?

Probably mixup in terminology..

Lets put it this way: I don't want any untested 64-bit binary to be installed.

So the code for 64-bit in the installer can stay, but we just aren't adding any 64-bit binaries to installer executables or creating 64-bit installers.
