I uploaded the compiled version of R2_14.

Thanks for this upload.

Have tried to install WinMerge-2.13.20.7557-Setup.exe on an winxp/sp3 machine.

In the 'Select Addtional Tasks' wizard - have disabled all

After a timeout got the following error popup:

C:\Program Files\Winmerge\ShellExtensionsU.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation

Have clicked Ignore

After launching, have got the following error popup:

C:\Program Files\Winmerge\WinmergeU.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the
application may fix the problem.

Uninstalled
Extracted WinMerge-2.13.20.7557-exe.zip to a directory
Got the same error when double clicked WinmergeU.exe

Have tried to double click Regiter.bat and got a similar popup error:

LoadLibrary("....\ShellExtensionsU.dll") failed - This application failed to start because the application
configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Got similar errors for the 2.15.1.7557 versions.

Thank you for the report.

It seems that VC redistributable package (vcredist_x86.exe) in the installer was old.

I uploaded new installer.

Thanks,

I have tried Aug 24th versions.

This time there was no 'time out' delay during the installation (installation progress was smooth) but I have got the same errors for both 2.13 and 2.15 !

During installation:
C:\Program Files\WinMerge\ShellExtensionU.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

When launching (both 'installed' version or 'extracted directory' version):
C:\Program Files\WinMerge\WinMergeU.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Sorry I'm late.

I've not understood why the installer made by Innosetup couldn't install VC runtime library.

I switched the installer to MSI type installer and uploaded it.

Thanks,

That works for both 2.15 and 2.13.

That has been a constant headache for us. Seems the MSI installer is the only sane and working way to get VC runtimes properly installed nowadays.

When tried to install on a win7 x64 machine, I have got a message that the registration of ShellExtensionU failed.

I could launch and use Winmerge, however, I couldn't activate shell extensions.

I have copied Regiter.bat and Unregister.nat from the .exe.zip file and could register ShellExtensionU with Register.bat (got a success response) however, still couldn't activate shell extensions and couldn't use 7zip archive support not with my installed 7zip and not with Merge7z920U.dll manually copied to my WinMErge\MergePlugins directory !

For 64-bit Windows you need 64-bit version of the shellextension. ShellExtensionU.dll is 32-bit Unicode version and does not work in 64-bit Windows. You need the ShellExtensionX64.dll.

I fixed the installer made by Inno Setup. Probably the installer will work fine.
